The honorable member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency took Balikumbat by storm this Saturday 05, September 2015 as he officially presided over the finals of a Peace and Unity Cup Competition. The competition brought together all the Five(5) villages that make up Balikumbat Sub Division. Being a member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency covering Babessi and Ndop central, one would have expected the Law Maker to limit his activities in Babessi Sub Division and Ndop Central Sub Division. Contrary, he believes that Ngoketunjia is one and indivisible, reason why to him he prefers looking at himself and his brother Honorable Banmi Emmanuel (member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia South) as members of Parliament for Ngoketunjia Division.
The competition was organized for females and males. Females participated in Handballs while males participated in football. The honorable gentleman began by giving the kick-off for the handball’s final before giving the kick-off for the football final. He was accompanied by his brother Hon. Banmi Emmanuel.
The handball final was won by Balikubat girls 8-2 against Bamukumbit girls. In football, Balikumbat students also emerged victorious.
Speaking after the match, Hon. Banmi Emmanuel declared that Balikumbat people are one and indivisible “We are one and indivisible, let peace and unity reign supreme amongst us” to the cup donor, Hon. Njingum Musa, as youths prepare for back to school, Peace, Unity and Hard-work should be their watchword, “I have come with one message, Peace, Unity and Development. We have also come to hand over the batten of continues success amongst all youths. I want to enjoin all the youths, as you go back to school, it is only together that we can succeed”.
The occasion was attended by the Divisional Officer for Balikumbat Sub Division, Ngwa Martin Manjong, Fons of villages in Balikumbat Sub Division, Divisional delegates, service heads et al.
At the end of the ceremony, prizes and trophies were handed to the beneficiaries.
